Grundon is thrilled to have been shortlisted in the 2024 Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management.
In a list of finalists just revealed, Grundon was named as one of seven organisations vying for the title of Waste Management Initiative in the Retail, Commercial & Public Sector.
Its entry focused on last year’s launch of the UK’s first proven nationwide inhaler return scheme. Aimed primarily at helping the NHS cut carbon emissions, it contributes to the circular economy by extracting and repurposing the greenhouse gases contained within inhalers, while also recycling the metal canisters and the plastic casings.
Grundon’s Paul McConaghy, who has been closely involved in the project, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. The inhaler return scheme is a potential gamechanger for the NHS and we are so pleased to see it is getting the recognition it deserves.”
With a total of 20 award categories overall, the winners will be announced at a luncheon on 16 May at The Grosvenor Hotel in London’s Park Lane. The Awards recognise innovation, dedication and success in the recycling and waste industry, local authorities and the wider sector.
